About
Analytical equations can be used to model the electrical characteristic of a SR motor. The model is then utilised to find an optimum phase current that produces smooth torque operation. The optimum phase current can be generated based on an explicit torque profile applied to each phase of the SR motor. The sum of all the explicit torque profiles produces a constant value and thus a constant or smooth torque operation of the SR motor. Alternately, the optimum phase current can be generated based on a total reference torque without defining an explicit torque profile for each phase of the SR motor. As a result, an implicit torque profile is produced in each phase of the SR motor corresponding to the total reference in order to ensure a constant or smooth torque operation.
